Seven Forests

ITM developed the Seven Forests brand of herb formulas in 1986 for use in its clinical facilities and also for prescription by practitioners who follow similar treatment protocols. The formulas are available only to licensed health care providers who are already educated in the field of traditional Chinese medicine. We provide a partial list of practitioners who prescribe Chinese herbs. The practitioner is responsible for determining which formula is most suitable to use, the dosage to be used, the duration of use, the appropriate point to change formulas, and the contraindications for using the formulas in various situations. The practitioner is also responsible for explaining to the patient, as appropriate, the formula's ingredients, their actions, expected effects, potential for adverse effects, and the diagnostic indicators that led to selection of the formula. The practitioner, based on training and experience, will respond to any other concerns that the patient may raise while using the formulas.

White Tiger

ITM developed the White Tiger brand of formulas in 1993 for use in its clinical facilities and for prescription by practitioners who follow similar treatment protocols. The formulas rely on Western concepts of using dietary supplements and herbs, but were designed to be utilized within a Chinese medical health care approach. The name White Tiger was chosen because, in the Chinese system of classification, the white tiger is the representative of the West. The tiger is also representative of the potential stored within. A characteristic of the tiger is its stealth (remaining hidden), and the silent crouch that it holds (for as long as necessary) before striking vigorously. The formulations produced under the White Tiger label represent a Western approach to natural health care that store a huge amount of potential in a deceptively small space (compared to the volume of crude preparations). White Tiger formulations may incorporate vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, hormones, and other substances that have been determined to have a positive health benefit, as well as utilizing Chinese herbs and some Western herbs. They are made as large, yet easy to swallow, oval tablets of about 1 gram each, usually taken only 1 or 2 tablets at a time. Most of the ingredients are highly concentrated.

Pine Mountain

ITM developed the Pine Mountain brand of herb formulas in 1996. These are replacements for popular patent remedies, and resolve the problems inherent in most imported patents such as concerns about inclusion of undesired ingredients (e.g., drugs, heavy metals, endangered species, toxic herbs) or improper labeling (e.g., incomplete ingredients list, mislabeled herbs). Pine Mountain herb tablets are prepared from either extracted herbs or powdered herbs or a combination of the two. The herb materials, obtained from China, are compressed into tablets of 525 mg each. The tablet coatings, made of modified cellulose, are colored with natural colors to yield white, yellow, or red tablets (color coded by the type of formulation). The tablet size is set to three times the typical patent formula pill size of 175 mg. The formulas are available to licensed health care providers who are already educated in the field of traditional Chinese medicine for prescription to their patients. We provide a partial list of practitioners who are trained to prescribe Chinese herbs (www.itmonline.org/pract.htm).

White Flower

White Flower Analgesic Balm is known throughout the world. The product was developed in 1927 by Gan Geog Eng, a resident of Singapore. The fluid was originally made only for private use, but family friends and acquaintances tried it out and liked it so much they convinced Mr. Gan to produce it on a commercial basis. He called it Pak Fah Yeow (also written Bai Hua You, which means white flower oil), named for his favorite flower, the white narcissus. The trademark was registered in 1935. Following the initial success in Singapore and Penang, Mr. Gan decided to enter into the Hong Kong market in 1951, seeing it as both a potential major market and ideal manufacturing center. With a series of marketing campaigns, extensive outdoor advertising, and endorsement by well-known Chinese opera actors, White Flower Oil became a leading product in the Far East.
